Suck 這個字在美國用的很多，它就是指很爛、很差的意思。Suck 是一個動詞，所以在使用上跟“爛”這個形容詞是不太一樣的。例如你可以說，That traffic here really sucks! 就是說這里的交通糟透了的意思。有時也聽得到人家用 suck 的形容詞 sucky。例如有一次我室友的女朋友先是車子拋錨，然后又下起大雨，更糟的是她還找不到電話可以求救。所以她那天一來我們這，就說了一句，Today is very sucky, everything sucks.
Suck 這個字的原意是指用嘴巴吸的意思，所以有人就設計了這么一個吸果凍的比賽。規則很簡單，就是不能用手，只能用嘴巴把果凍吸光。所以比賽一開始，只聽到觀眾大喊，Hey, you suck! 表面上聽來是說，你快點吸的意思，事實上則是暗地里罵人爛的意思。

在這個句子中，動詞take表示的是“接受不好的事情”（accept something unpleasant）。在非正式的口語表達中，也可以用詞組“take sth. lying down”（to submit to harsh treatment with no resistance）替換動詞take。

might (just) as well: （通常用于口語）用來建議做并不是太想做的事情，由于沒有更好的選擇、又只能如此（used to suggest doing something that you do not really want to do, because you have no better ideas.）。這個搭配的表達有點像漢語中的讓步狀語從句，經常會在翻譯中加上“既然”“反正”之類的詞加強相應的語氣。
例句：You'll need a new suit at Spring Festival anyway, you might as well have it now.
反正你春節也得添一套新衣服，還是現在添了吧。
Since Jack wouldn't take up the job, we might as well ask Richard to do it.
既然杰克不愿意承擔這個任務，我們只好請理查德來干了。

“打領帶”，比較常用的表達就是“arrange one's tie”。Tie作為動詞，多用于“系、綁、打結”之類的含義，當tie作為名詞，使用“領帶、領結”的意思的時候，就需要動詞arrange的配合了。
